Product introduction
1960s to 70s. Many musicians from Zaire (present-day Republic of the Congo) left their home countries and began performing in East Africa, starting with Kenya, etc. What came into the limelight in such an era was when young members left the Baba Gaston orchestra, which was based in East Kongolbumbashi, and a new “Les Mangalupa” was formed in July '76. They became representatives of the new generation of Zaire music in Kenya at the time. This work is centered around recordings made during the heyday of Les Mangalupas (late 70s). (C) RS
