According to Maximum the Ryo-kun, the band's name "Maximum the Hormone" comes from "We blast music that gets your blood pumping and your muscles dancing, enough to get your hormones flowing at their maximum!" However, this was actually an afterthought. The band members all love meat, so they combined the word "hormones" (grilled meat) with the cool "MAXIMUM" sound. [3] Originally, the band was written in English as "Maximum The Hormone," but after a line-up change, they switched to the current katakana spelling (although the English spelling is sometimes used even after the katakana spelling).
While the band is often written as "Maximum the Hormone" or "Maximum the Hormone," the official spelling is "Maximum the Hormone," with a half-width space between each word.
As a unique project, they irregularly hold limited free live shows called "Hellscape," a Hormone-style festival.
