[Our staff's impressions after hitting it]
Our staff actually tested the CLIPHIT. The sound quality was quite good, and it seemed to successfully capture the power of live drums. It's like playing drums with a combination of three basic clips and one pedal. The three clips are assigned to common drum sounds such as snare, hi-hat, and cymbal. The pedal produces a bass drum sound. Each of these four sounds has its own individual volume control, making it easy to balance each sound.
[Test 1] I sat on a chair and attached the clips to the knees of my pants or to my clothing (around my stomach area), using my body as a percussion instrument and hitting them with my hands. As a result, I was able to produce drum sounds from my body, just like drummers often do (lol), tapping their knees (as if they're getting into the action at a live performance). I played the included bass drum pedal with my right foot, attached the hi-hat clip to my right knee, the snare clip to my left knee, and attached the cymbal clip to my clothing. My impression was that the clips were more sensitive than I expected, reacting well to even a slight touch and producing sound. They also detected dynamics fairly well, and I felt like they were able to accurately express the dynamics I wanted. [Test 2] I clipped the clips to practice rubber pads (training drum pads) and hit them with sticks. While sitting on a chair, I pressed the bass drum pedal with my right foot and connected the cymbal clip to the training cymbal, the hi-hat clip to the right-hand rubber pad, and the snare clip to the central mesh pad. Again, there were no issues and the sound was highly sensitive. It feels more like playing drums than hitting them with your hands like in Test 1.
(Because the pad provided for the hi-hat was low, it ended up sounding more like an open-hand style, rather than the usual cross-hit style of hitting the hi-hat and snare.) This time, I played one of the built-in sounds on a "rock" drum kit, and the cymbals and snare had a pleasant punch and attack, creating an atmospheric sound. It seems like it would be extremely useful for band members to gather at home instead of in the studio to brainstorm ideas for small arrangements or simply check the sound. [Test 3] For a little fun, it also includes built-in dog and cat sounds (like woof woof and meow). It seemed like kids would really enjoy it. It's an entertaining instrument that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, whether it's for family rhythm games or at a facility where everyone can attach clips to various objects and play rhythm games together. It would also make a great gift for children or drummers.
