HOW TO PREPARE EGGS FOR INCUBATION? Choose only fresh, fertilized eggs – it is best to incubate them within 4–7 days of laying . Day 11–12 : assess development – embryos should be large, with visible blood vessels and a large air cell. Day 16–17 : shine a light on the egg – a well-developed egg will be dark, with a distinct air cell. Dead embryos have blurred vessels and indistinct boundaries. HATCHING AND MAINTENANCE OF THE DEVICE In the final phase of incubation (day 19–21) increase the humidity and slightly lower the temperature to 37–37.5°C – this is crucial for the proper breaking through the shell by the chicks. During the final phase of incubation – just before the chicks hatch – , both the egg tray and the turner mechanism should be removed from the incubator. This gives the newly hatched chicks more space and is not at risk of injury from the turner movement.
