Kubagasa-ya Ryukyu Glass Cold Tea Cup in Aqua is a handblown Okinawan tumbler that holds fluorite so it glows softly in the dark after being charged by light. Ryukyu glass has been crafted in Okinawa since the postwar era, prized for its thick, bubble-flecked look and its warm, artisan character.
Key Features:
- Handblown Ryukyu glass tumbler in a cool aqua tone, ideal for cold tea, water, juice, or cocktails.
- Embedded fluorite absorbs light from sunlight or a fluorescent lamp and re-emits it, glowing beautifully in a dark room.
- To charge, place the glass close to a fluorescent light or desk lamp for about 10 minutes, then darken the room to enjoy the glow.
- Made using the traditional glassblowing method, giving each piece subtle individual variation in shape and bubbles.
- Great party trick for birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's Day, White Day, and anniversaries; pour juice into a pre-charged glass, set it beside the cake, and turn off the lights for a surprise.
