This is a genuine silk fukusa (Sahoji). Gosen (Niigata Prefecture), which has flourished as a silk textile production area since the mid-Edo period (Tenmei era), is considered one of Japan's three major white silk production areas, along with Tango in Kyoto and Nagahama in Shiga.
