Food supplement in the form of a hard capsule containing biotin (vitamin B7). Biotin, also known as the "vitamin of beauty", helps to maintain the good condition of the skin and hair.
If you want to improve the condition of your nervous system, improve your metabolism or keep your hair and skin looking good, you should not forget biotin in your daily diet. It is not without reason that the name of vitamin B7 comes from the Greek word "biotos", which means "life", as it affects the smooth functioning of many processes in the body. Reach for Biotin 2500 μg and convince yourself of its beneficial effects.
Biotin belongs to the group of water-soluble compounds and is one of the B vitamins. For this reason, it is also often referred to as vitamin B7 or vitamin H. It is an essential substance for the optimal functioning of the body. It contributes to the maintenance of normal energy and nutrient metabolism (fats, carbohydrates and protein) - it plays a significant role in the conversion of certain nutrients into energy - and also supports the functioning of the nervous system and helps to maintain normal psychological functions. It is particularly appreciated for its properties to maintain the good condition of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. Studies have shown that biotin intake contributes to increased hair growth in women with thinning hair strands [1]. It has also been shown that taking vitamin B7 can improve nail thickness and reduce nail splitting [2]. Not surprisingly, it is referred to as the 'beauty vitamin'.
Maintaining a balanced diet is the basis for providing the body with adequate amounts of biotin. Biotin can be found in offal (e.g. beef liver), eggs, fish (e.g. salmon, tuna), meat, seeds, nuts and some vegetables (e.g. yams and spinach) [6]. It is worth noting that consumption of a large amount of raw egg whites may contribute to biotin deficiency. This is due to the avidin content, which, because it has anti-nutritional properties, binds vitamin B7 and prevents it from being used as a nutrient. Cooking results in the loss of avidin's biological activity, so that interference with biotin absorption can be prevented. In addition, egg yolk is a source of vitamin H [4, 5].
Biotin deficiency is rare and the symptoms themselves appear gradually. They are most commonly associated with deterioration of hair, skin and nails and the occurrence of neurological disorders. With vitamin B7 deficiency, the following symptoms may occur: thinning hair, a scaly red rash (usually located around the eyes, mouth and nose), conjunctivitis, skin infections, brittle nails, seizures, as well as depressed mood, lethargy or hallucinations [5].
Food supplements may be helpful in providing adequate amounts of biotin. However, it should be borne in mind that taking vitamin B7 in such a form may interfere with the results of some laboratory tests, especially thyroid hormones and vitamin D [3]. It is therefore advisable to consult your doctor if and how much time before planned tests should be withheld from supplementation.
