The [Seibu Railway] 9000 series was introduced in 1993, combining the service facilities of the 6000 series with the vehicle performance of the 101 series. The car body is similar to the New 2000 series, but the service facilities are more extensive, including in-car guidance displays and wheelchair spaces. From 2003, modifications were made to the control devices and brakes, and the work on all trains was completed in fiscal year 2007.
