At the 2005 World Rally Championship opener Monte Carlo Rally, Subaru faced an improved version of the Impreza WRC from the previous year.
P. Solberg ran briskly in 4th place while having brake problems in the early stages. On the last day, they recovered, such as marking the best time with 2 SSs, and raised the ranking to 3rd place, but they were scooped up by snow and crashed.
Unfortunately, they left the line in the opening round, but they won the second round of the Swedish Rally, demonstrating that Impreza still has top level performance.
