UPVC Window Seals: A seal is a very important sealing element for windows and doors. It is placed in places where elements need to be joined together to ensure a tight seal between these surfaces. We need seals in many aspects of life, including sealing faucets, sinks, car engines, garage doors, windows and doors, and many others. Today, we will focus on the latter, i.e., window and door seals. Seals are made of ethylene-propylene rubber. (EPDM), and it's thanks to this material that the seals gain excellent properties and advantages, such as: waterproofness, fire resistance, windproofness, sound insulation, high elasticity, resistance to deformation, and heat loss from the outside. They are highly resistant to mechanical movements such as opening and closing. Their high strength means the seals won't crack or tear. They are resistant to weather conditions (wind, water, ozone, etc.), and maintain their properties in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +100°C. When we notice that our existing seals are worn, we begin to wonder how to adjust them and replace them with new ones. To properly replace seals in PVC windows, we should determine the brand of the window and the profile used. Window seals are similar in appearance, but they differ primarily in shape and dimensions. Unfortunately, there's no single seal that's universally applicable to all windows. Therefore, if you're unsure which one to buy, you can cut off a piece of the seal, take a photo of the profile, and then send us a request, and we'll try to help you choose. Window and door seals are divided into: glazing seals, there are two of these types of seals in a window, one mounted on the inside of the window, the other on the outside. This group includes, among others, the following seals: S-171, S-185, S-229, S-233, S-256, S-332, S-396, S-834x, S-901, S-1124, S-1126, S-1182, S-1189, S-1252, S-1387F, S-1560, S-1586. Resistance seals, also called rebate and closing seals, are mounted in the place where the sash and frame meet when closed. Their main feature is sealing, so that heat does not escape from the house, dust and moisture do not penetrate, and also sounds from outside do not get in. This type includes: S-232, S-618, S-835x, S-900, S-1110, S-1125, S-1127, S-1150, S-1172, S-1188, S-1251, S-1342x, S-1388, S-1530, S-1559, S-1585, S-1693. If, when installing the new one, You'll feel a slight resistance; you can gently pour dish soap over it. With newer windows, the seals are heat-formed during production, and replacing them with the window is much more difficult.
