The long-selling “Hanakin” cloths have been renewed with new colors and packaging. Dyed in colors reminiscent of Japan and presented with elegant wrapping paper, they are now suitable for gifting. The wrapping paper for these Hanakin cloths features depictions of each color’s flower, completing a vibrant presentation. We have prepared six colors of Hanakin cloths – White Lily (Shirayuri), Hinougi (Japanese fan palm), Narcissus (Suisen), Willow (Yanagi), Gentian (Rindou), and Spirea (Kodemari) – as well as cloths made from linen material. This is a colorful lineup that can add a touch of accent color to your interior. The colors are subdued and calm, making them ideal as casual gifts, souvenirs, or for housewarming presents.

These cloths are made from “kayaori,” a specialty product of Nara Prefecture, with two layers sewn together. The large, thin, and loosely woven cloths are highly absorbent when folded and dry quickly when spread out, making them convenient to use. “Cotton” and “linen” – natural fibers that become stronger when wet – are used because we want them to be enjoyed for a long time. With repeated washing, they become softer and gentler to the touch. They become fluffier with use and can be cherished until worn thin.

In addition to use as dishcloths, they can be used for a variety of purposes such as wrapping lunch boxes, straining dashi, or removing moisture from vegetables. Please enjoy using them in ways that suit your lifestyle.
