Air Jordan 11 Retro 'Cap Gown' (Unisex) black / black-black Vintage Basketball Shoes 378037 005

Tinker Hatfield first used patent leather—inspired by lawnmower housings—as the upper material for the Air Jordan 11. The innovative nylon mesh upper and tongue design drew inspiration from the exterior architecture of Denver International Airport. The shoe’s body employed a mesh-fiber material, significantly reducing overall weight while effectively preventing deformation or stretching. Its midsole featured a full-length AIR SOLE unit and, in a groundbreaking move, incorporated a full-length carbon-fiber plate—effectively resisting torsion and rapidly restoring sole alignment, thereby delivering a major performance breakthrough and setting the precedent for high-end athletic footwear featuring carbon plates.
