The OCD is an extremely open-sounding overdrive/distortion circuit that differs significantly from typical overdrives in that it uses a MOSFET for clipping, and the clipping is connected to the circuit's voltage reference (vref) rather than ground. As a result, whether you pick softly or hard, you get a more interactive sound compared to conventional diode-to-ground clipping overdrives. The OCD provides touch sensitivity and nuance while preserving the original tone of the amp or guitar you're playing, and creates complex harmonics. Due to its immense output, the OCD is an excellent pedal for use as an overdrive in front of an amp, or run through a master-volume amp to drive it much harder than other ODs, but it also excels at creating its own unique distortion with the complex harmonic array of a Class A amp. Another major appeal is that you can access the middle ground sound simply by turning down your guitar's volume control.
