Product Introduction
"Dungeons & Dragons" Overview
Embark on a Dungeons & Dragons adventure with friends.
The role-playing game (RPG) "Dungeons & Dragons" is a story-telling game set in a world of swords and sorcery.
The story unfolds driven by your imagination. This world holds endless possibilities.
How to Play D&D
1. The Dungeon Master Describes the Scene
The Dungeon Master tells players where their characters are and what's around them, presenting basic options for each player (e.g., how many doors lead out of a room, what's on a table, who's in an inn, etc.).
2. Players Decide What to Do
Sometimes one player speaks for the entire party, but often each player can take different actions, such as one player trying to unlock a door while another checks the wall for secret passages.
While players don't necessarily have to take turns announcing "I/what I will do," the Dungeon Master listens to all players and decides how these actions will be resolved.
3. The Dungeon Master (and Players) Announce Achievements
Resolving tasks is simple: if an adventurer wants to cross a room and open a door, the Dungeon Master simply says "The door opens" and describes what's on the other side.
However, there may be situations that make it difficult for the adventurer to complete their task, such as a locked door or a deadly trap hidden in the floor. In those cases, the Dungeon Master decides what happens.
In most cases, what happens next depends on the result of a dice roll.
This process repeats throughout all decision-making in the game.
In certain situations (especially combat), actions are more structured, with players (and the Dungeon Master) taking turns choosing the next action to resolve. For the most part, however, gameplay is fluid and changes depending on the circumstances of the adventure.
During combat, Dungeon Masters can prompt players to announce attacks and finishing blows, further immersing the player in the game.
