D’Addario has been working to develop long-lasting strings that combine the natural tone and touch feel of uncoated strings—a feat previously considered difficult to achieve—by combining their unique, cutting-edge coating technology with materials like NYSteel and innovative elements such as Fusion Twists.

The XT series achieves unprecedented longevity by applying a coating to all wound and plain strings with a high-carbon steel core using D’Addario’s unique coating technology. These strings boast superior performance in strength, pitch stability, and corrosion resistance—unmatched by previous coated strings.

●Natural Tone: Produces a long-lasting, clear tone with harmonics as rich as uncoated strings.

●Exceptional Pitch Stability: Tuning stability is improved by 131% compared to conventional strings.

●Improved Picking Strength: Strength tests show up to 42% increased strength, making them less prone to breakage.

The new coating technology in the XT series enables the application of an extremely thin micro-polymer coating to all types of strings through a unique new process.

Corrosion tests have shown that it achieves higher corrosion resistance compared to the previous EXP series coated strings, resulting in longer lifespan and greater corrosion resistance, while maintaining a natural sound and feel almost like uncoated strings.

Furthermore, this micro-polymer coating is applied to all strings, including plain strings.

While the EXP series outsourced the wire material coating process to an external technology company, the XT series utilizes a new, in-house coating facility.

This allows the entire manufacturing process to be completed within our own facilities, eliminating the need for unnecessary transportation and packaging, and ensuring that the freshly made wire material is coated in its optimal condition.
